Happy Monday

As my friends from Bahstahn would say, I have a wicked cold. At first I was hopeful it was just allergies, but as this illness continues I must grudgingly admit it’s not. Sigh. And it’s not even a dignified cold, where I could just cough or sneeze quietly every so often, but one of those massive head colds like a little kid gets, complete with runny nose, sniffling, coughing and sneezing. I blame C – she’s got the same thing except not as badly. And that brings me to my next paragraph:

When did it become harder to get Sudafed decongestant than liquor? Of course I realize that meth is a problem (although why anyone with half a brain in their head would want to mix all the ingredients that make up meth and then INGEST it is something I’m not capable of figuring out today) but goodness – all I wanted was some Sudafed so C would stop sniffling and coughing. You have to take the tag from the shelf, bring it to the pharmacist, show id, have same id scanned, sign some sort of statement (someday I’m probably going to regret not reading things as closely as I should!) and then I could buy the Sudafed. And according to the nice pharmacist, apparently there’s a limit on how much decongestant one can buy in a certain time frame. What would happen if I had more than 1 kid (or I wanted kid and adult formula?), or if the pharmacy was closed when I was shopping? I know, greater good and all, but its still frustrating.

But in better news: the new Tarjay opened in town. Practically right down the street from us. WOO HOO! No more trips to the scary Mart of Wal! It’s big, it’s clean, it’s brand spankin’ new and I LOVE IT. We even went there on the “official Grand Opening” day and the hordes of people didn’t bother me. There’s a Starbucks - yes I know, my heart will always belong to Dunkin Donuts but sometimes you just gotta get a Pumpkin Spice latte. Or a peppermint mocha during the holiday season. I’m sure once those new baristas get up to speed it will be even more wonderful.

C’s birthday party with her friends was on Saturday. I’m sure D will have a coherent post on that experience soon. I’m just glad it was at the Y and not at home. And now, we have an entire battalion of Barbies. (I’m counting the High School Musical dolls as Barbies, because as soon as they are liberated from their wire/tape/plastic enclosures I’m sure they’ll be swapping outfits with the other 999 Barbies that live with us).

Foliage has been beautiful this weekend. I have some pictures, but they’re at home and I’m not, so I’ll try to remember to post those sometime this week.

And go Sox! Who’da thunk it? Not me (but it should be noted I’m not a big baseball fan, profess no allegiance to any specific team and am merely involved for the chance to sit outside with a beer and hot dog. I can’t tell you the number of Yankee games where the only way D and I knew it was over and who had won was whether it was Liza or Frank singing New York, New York). So anyway, GO SOX!!
